Take Me Out to the Ball Game, Part Four--UPGRADE EDITION

The streak continues.

Actually, two streaks continue; I won another pair of free tickets from throwing at the speed booth tonight, and the Osprey lost yet another home game. It is becoming so fun to quietly mock their inferior playing that I daresay we might be a tad disappointed if we ever get to witness a win.

Andy and I went to the game tonight, just the two of us on a date, and going into it, we had a plan. We were going to get an upgrade to the best seats in the house, to enjoy our date night in style.

We had noted the pair of sleek new leather swivel recliners with the matching ottomans behind home plate. We had witnessed the young intern with the clipboard approach a couple in the cheap seats who had arrived early enough to watch batting practice, chat with them for a few minutes, and then escort them to the Best Seats in the House, a promotional for a local furniture store. One lucky couple at each game is chosen to sit there.

We were so presumptuous, confidently setting out to be the ones who would be chosen for the upgrade. We intentionally dressed in coordinating outfits. We arrived right after the gates opened, an hour before game time. We sat in the back row of the bleacher seats, near the aisle to be easily accessible. We snuggled close together, holding hands and looking generally cuddly. And then we waited.

It didn't take long. Out of the corner of his eye, Andy noticed the same young intern we'd seen before come striding toward the bleachers, and he whispered to me that he was coming. We snuggled in closer, the cutest little lovebirds you ever did see. I could see that the intern was scanning the area and had noticed us. "Bingo," was the sweet nothing I whispered into his ear and we giggled flirtatiously. The intern came right to us.

Minutes later, we were in the comfy chairs, feet kicked up. Now that is the way to watch a ball game. So nice.
