Eight

My little girl is growing up--and feeling better, too, thank goodness. Here she is before school this morning.

Her class started a big unit on the desert yesterday and even arranged the chairs like the seats in an airplane to pretend to take a flight there. The teacher dressed as a flight attendant and gave them a safety lecture on the plane. After they'd been airborne a bit, she went down the aisle and served snacks. The kids loved it.

Elli was sad to be sick the last two days, knowing she was missing the beginning of this new unit that they've all been looking forward to. She brought this little suitcase instead of a backpack today and carried it into her classroom, acting flustered and asking with mock concern if she'd missed her flight. It was well-received and they all laughed together. She was so happy to be back.

Later this afternoon, I will take my blender to her classroom and make mango smoothies for everyone. It's the girl's birthday today and that is what she wanted for class treats. I mentioned it to the teacher and she is going to work it in as an imaginary trip to an oasis café. Fun stuff.

Happy birthday, Miss Elle. You are truly a delight and this world is a better place because you are in it.

Happy B-day Elle! Lovin' that snazzy suitcase! Awesome colors! Where can I score one of 'em? Trey and Luke send their b-day wishes, too.

Hey, i recognize that cute bag. Suzanne has one just like it. It says: "Ronald E. Smith" on it. Were they a set once upon a time?

aUncle E,

Indeed, they are from the same source. Elli's has the same inscription. Very observant of you!

Not sure what happened there with the aUncle E. Of course, that should be anUncle E. Pardon my grammar.

Observant! Wern't they both cut from the same cloth as Josehp's coat of many colors?
