More Poetry

The woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep

-Robert Frost, from "Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening"

I read this familiar excerpt while subbing today; it was screen-printed on the back of a Corvallis High School cross-country team sweatshirt. Well done, Coach.

Really, there should be a point system that rewards such things.

We had to memorize a poem (or part of one) as extra credit in our English class each week. This is one I remember the most. Well the last four lines anyway. I agree with your sentiments...

Delurking to say this was a lovely little post, and I agree wholeheartedly. Stereotypically, coaches are not especially well-known for their appreciation of poetry, which makes it that much sweeter indeed.
